Dorothy M. Whitmire Global Mission Services, Inc

he Dorothy M. Whitmire Global Mission Services is a 5013c organization founded by Tarinna Olley. The late Dorothy M. Whitmire was the mother of Tarinna Olley who passed away May 13, 2023. Tarinna had a special bond with her mother that was rooted in faith and service. The non profit was formed in 2021 to provide services and support to those in underserved and marginalized communities in the Washington DC Metro area. Dorothy Whitmire resided in Ward 7 in Washington, DC as a life time resident until she passed at the age of seventy-seven with Tarinna and her younger brother. Dorothy lived in an environment that was a working class African-American community that unfortunately had become plagued with food deserts, crime and violence. However, Dorothy found a way to be a light in her community and provide support and help from just the kindness of her heart. She was not affiliated with any groups or organizations but was a giant in your neighborhood. She was a single mother the majority of her life who faced many challenges but persevered through them all and still found a way to serve others. Tarinna learned from watching her mother serve residents in her community by providing housing, food, money, and moral support. Tarinna has emphatically stated that her mother always said, “you never know when someone may have to give you a glass of water and to also give people their flowers when they are living.” Tarinna knew she had to find a way to honor her mother by keeping the torch lit with community service.
